Stating that school teachers do NOT pay into Social Security may be true for some teachers but it is NOT true for all teachers including many college and university teachers. The ad does not say what kind of teacher he was.

I believe this commercial is misleading. School teachers do NOT pay into Social Security and do NOT collect SS when they retire. They get their pensions, at 80% (?) their pay from their teacher's union.

AARP was fine with cutting 500 billion from Medicare under the Democrats' giant new healthcare law. It turns out that AARP stands to profit by about a billion dollars from the changes.

AARP is a cold, selfish, cynical advocacy group for big government and crony government. Nasty.

It's moot anyway. Starting with LBJ, the government has spent all the SS taxes on existing retirees and current general expenses and not accumulated a dime to pay for the coming Boomer demographic bubble.

Very few are advocating what this ad says for CURRENT retirees. But if no action is taken, both cuts to CURRENT retirees' benefits AND massive tax hikes will be necessary. We've known for decades that the Boomers would put huge stresses on SS and Medicare when they, en masse, retired. They did not have sufficient children in the 70s and 80s to be paying into the system today, and now the burdens on workers will be unsustainable at this level. STOP THE DEMAGOGUERY, AARP!

you have to cut social security and entitlement benefits for there to be ANY agreement in congress. it's the size of defense spending, government cannot simply afford the payments anymore without taxing the public to death.
