It's absurd to say cinema is dead. Greenaway had his moment of fame in the 80s until The Baby Of Macon exposed him for what he was: a self-regarding nihilist with an almost pathological contempt for his audience. There are still genuine artists out there producing quality work (Lynch, Mike Leigh, Ang Lee...the Russian guy who made The Return and The Banishment (sorry, forget his name). I agree about Lynne Ramsay: Ratcatcher was great...what happened to her?

Too true...cinema is DEAD per se. Instead shallow popular crap trash exists deadening the mind, deadening intelligence, deadening creativity, and deadening the soul!

Wish Britain had more auteurs like him. There doesnt seem to be any in the next generation other than Lynn Ramsey. Would be amazing seeing him VJ live lol
