Sailing during storm on Lake Erie. We departed Buffalo on the Sunday, September 24, 2006, morning and after 8 hours of beating to the weather we decided to turn back. During that time we managed to do just 8NM away frm Buffalo.

  • People need to remember all the Great Lakes are enormous bodies of water and when planning a sail, its best to consider them bluewater conditions...both in terms of planning and respect.

  • Look what happened to the Edmond Fitzgerald.

  • i worked on lake erie for 5 yrs..it is very underestimated and very unforgiving

  • I dont think peole realize how deep the lake is and how rough it can get? then again with all the salt digging up there it makes me wonder where the water goes and comes from?

  • its amazing what some "salties" think, ya know? "oh its JUST a lake". I grew up on the lake, spent alot of time in ensigns 22's and a c&c 30. it aint for the faint.

  • Whats the song ?
