As Oil Hits Another Record High, A Look at the New Geopolitics of Energy
Oil prices have jumped to yet another record high, nearing $142 a barrel in Asian trading today. The latest price surge comes a day after OPEC's president said crude prices could reach $170 this summer. Meanwhile, Libya has threatened to cut oil production in response to US threats against oil producers. We speak with Michael Klare, author of "Rising Powers, Shrinking Planet" and Arun Gupta of The Indypendent.

What there is really no need for is energy corporations at all. Communities could make ethanol from multiple plants, and with wind mills and solar energy we could be our own power plants, easily.

In arabia it gives not this prize sorrows..they pay only some cents for a litre oil..it's an interesting view of the situation.China grows very fast now and it needs much Oil for this.and america needs also much oil and not only for the economy, but also at to lead new wars against the rest of the world.

Re-listen...."Excess" Global capacity of 6 million barrels a day down to 1million in 3 years. Excess Global capacity droped at the same time there was drastic increase in Oil company profits.
Excess of demand...there for no need to keep building storage tanks/facilities.....and the USA Federal Reserve storage level has been lowered.

:O First post. I like Democracy now. Very informative. Although I'm not sure about what Indypendent said, everyday I see articles about "the need for more oil" and how China will need millions of barrels more in order to continue its development.. so I wouldn't say that say that demand has remained the same.
