I remember JB came on towards the end of the infamous Arg game, set up GL's goal and was awesome. If only he'd started that match then who knows what might have happened?
come on now. how could do anything like this for England, knowing the way English football is traditionally rigid, workman-like and mostly boring. How many England internationals have been memorable ? Having one skillfull player on the team will not guarantee wonders - unless the team play is centered around that one player. English national teams formation has never really allowed for this.
How did a goal from Barnsey become the start of a political debate?
All I wanted to say was that this was probably the beginning of the end for Barnes and England. Yes, it was an outstanding goal, but the problem was that people were expecting that kind of high quality every time he put on the England shirt, and he couldn't (understandably) meet those expectations.
It got turned into a "political debate" cus some tit, (seems ages ago now) Started on me. He said, (being a smartass), George Best was British not Irish. I simply retorted if he (the author) was British, please read your passport mate. That was it, I got attacked from all sides. I agree, please get back to the goal. I thought it was a pretty goal, albeit down to bad defending and top notch attacking combined.
Jeez, I take you out for a pint and you have to cause trouble to get a free ride home in the police car.
All because Georgie was from Northern Ireland, owned and neglected by the British Government. :)
I suppose you're in a tizzy over the French, huh? :) This is what happens when you don't have Jackie Charlton running the team. You need an Englishman to fizz it up in Ireland, don't ya? :)
It was a rhetorical question mate. I know who Mary Peters is. All MY FRIENDS ARE ENGLISH! They do not get offended when I Explain the difference between Great Britain an The United Kingdom. I seem to be labeled a bigot here because type can easily be miss construed.
irishchrisc ur rite cos GB n the UK is different n im british so u gunna call me a biggot cos great britain is england, scotland n wales while The uk is england, scotland, wales n n. ireland
