The Great Salt Lake Open Water Marathon was scheduled for June 9, 2012, but high winds threatened the safety of paddlers (support boats for each swimmer) and the race was canceled. Because I had prepared mentally for this adventure swim, I wanted to do the event on my own as soon as possible. Turned out to be an absolutely beautiful day for a swim. Taylor Groberg was my paddler. And this video was compiled by him to document the swim. (Just a note of correction: "Black Rock Swim" is the title given to the video by Taylor, but to the local swimmers that usually means a swim from the GSLS Marina to Black Rock--a distance of 1 mile. The GSLOW Marathon is from Antelope Island to Black Rock.
