This was the firt coptic book I ever bound. I used hemp to bind it and it's 24lb paper. Essentially I used this book to write all about ideas I had about bookbinding as I started to sell books.

  • Hello, I know this is an older video, but I love the way your first attempt at Coptic turned out really neatly bound. My first attempt was very untidy and because the pages were looser bound, with gaps and stuff, you had to shuffle it like a pack of cards to get it looking right. Stab binding and regular binding are my faves, but this has inspired me to give Coptic another go. Thanks! :)

  • @PersistantPuppy I love coptic bookbinding. I find that the 2 needle stitches are easier to get tight, this is a single needle though. Some of the signatures are loose, but I love that flipping feeling you get with a coptic... I think I need to do some more.

  • can u do a tutorial on how to make this journal please

  • @latinbeuty15 check out alisa golden's book Creating Handmade Books, this technique is too complex for a Youtube video.

  • Great job!

  • @eekns Thanks!

  • @plakola :) I"ve been making and selling handmade journals now for 10 years look for comfortableshoesstudio[dot]com online and follow the link toe my artfire shop.

  • I like that journals. Its more unique, custom and personal. Book binding sounds interesting. You should start a business, lol.

  • Admittedly, this is not my best video, sorry you don't like it. You know what the best thing about the internet is? The little red X in the upper right corner of your browser, don't like it close it. If I were to name a video specifically about bookbinding I might name it "How To make a Journal"

I've got a video teaching a single signature technique.

  • why would anyone want to see you flip through your (unreadable) journal while music plays?

By naming it as you have it comes up for people looking to learn about bookbinding.
