High Definition walk around of my 1987 Honda Helix CN250. Upgrades include 19 gram DR. Pulley sliders, gates belt, 1500rpm torque (main) spring. Rebuilt honda clutch (on the back half of the driven pulley) including new pads, springs and rubber bushings. All work completed by me. Runs even better now and is quiet like it should be, no more chattering clutch. Now I think I want to do a custom paint job to spruce it up a bit. I'm thinking canary yellow or some metallic blue.

  • Hi - I have a 2007 Helix. Can you tell me where you got a "Gates belt" and why you didn't go with stock? How much is it? My clutch is now "metal on metal" How did you break off rear hub (I do not own an air wrench) and how did you put it back on? Thanks for any help.

  • @alosborntigard Hello. I got the gates belt because it was about $40 cheaper than the oem belt. I can't recall where I got the belt from, if I think of it I will let you know. What do you mean your clutch is metal on metal? By the rear hub do you mean the clutch bell (rear) or the variator fan (front pulley)? I took mine off with an impact wrench. If you do not have one, you are going to have to hold the clutch bell with a strap wrench or similar and tap your ratchet with a hammer.

  • Try some :"Forever Black" on the plastic bits. It will get rid of the gray junk. I have the same model and year.

  • @Forensource Where can one purchase forever black? It's not my main bike but it would be nice to tune up the plastic parts again.

  • sounds great, looks great red too

  • @xjgseven Thanks. Hard to tell in the vid but its faded in a few places.

  • sounds like the same engine Honda uses on it's lawn mower.. :-)

  • That was my first motorized vehicle, when I was 15 years old, 1988 . I was driving a dark grey 250cc Helix, in Miami-Florida, with my beginner's driving permit. I'm lucky to be alive now..because I use to drive that thing about 90mph, like a maniac..Great scooter.

  • Get some stuff called :Forever Black" it will turn the grey plastic bits black again.

  • @troutdaletim Get the honda version don't get the chinese copy. Although they are pretty close the knockoffs use subpar components. If you don't like to work on it more than you ride it get a honda.
