Make sure to watch in HD, much better quality!
Consists of photos taken in June 2009 at the Tiger Temple in Kanchanaburi, Thailand. You spend the morning eating, bathing, and exercises the tigers of various age groups. The little ones are very playful but do have quite powerful teeth, we both shed a little blood that day. The tigers run the show, and if they want to do something, the handlers let them. If you see how hard they run and play all morning, you can understand why they seem lethargic in the afternoon.
Quite honestly, the afternoon session is a bit of a tragedy, as several hundred can show up in one day for their picture. You don't get to see much in this situation other than sleeping tigers who must remain still to get everyone through. The guide told us because it's a monastery they can't turn people away.
We were still left with some questions about the breeding program and what the eventual plans are, but there are certainly much worse fates for tigers in this world.
It was the day of a lifetime.
Someday someone will be killed by one of these animals, it really is a matter of time. They may be tame as can be, but wild is wild....one day it will happen. Everyone going there should realize that signing up and give them the respect they deserve.
Just got back home from Thailand and did the morning tour of the temple. How incredible is it? I got some great pics but after a cub bite to the hand before breakfast and despite multiple offers, wasn't brave enough to go face to face like you guys did. Some great images bringing back great memories....Thanks for posting !!
