I met Norton Buffalo When he sat in with Elvin Bishop one night (I have posted that show on here, as well) in either 1981, 82, or 83. I really can't remember for sure. I had videotaped the Elvin Bishop performance and when I found out that Norton was going to be performing with his band a few nights later at the Golden Bear club Golden Bear in Huntington Beach, CA, I asked him if a friend and I could video tape his show. So here's the show. Some of the song titles may not be correct but.... Oh well. Hope you enjoy. and sorry about the background hum.

  • Thank you artski101. Norton Buffalo was always so hard to find before.

  • Is that Fly Brooks on bass? Smoking no less, way cool....

  • Norton and B0Z Scaggs had very identifiable voices... could be what drew Elvin Bishop them.

  • Thanks for posting this video! I loved Norton Buffalo. As a harmonica player myself, I would say he was my greatest musical influence. If you get a chance to hear the original recording of this song, the solo is arguably the finest harp solo ever recorded. Also, he was one of the funniest performers I have ever seen. Once in the middle of a song, he put a diatonic harmonica entirely inside his mouth--and he was still able to play better than most.

  • RIP Norton. I always said you took Butterfields place. Now we have no harp heros left.

  • norton is VERY sick now......

he is "maybe the greatest harp player" ever...and a sweet sweet man......

    ironic..he has lung cancer......

he is a human frieght train when he plays

  • looks like a harmonica to me and not a harp. lmao

  • Norton is without a doubt the finest harp player out there these days! I can see where John Popper got a lot of influence from and his vocals kind of remind me of Boz Scaggs. I saw Norton in 2003 and he blew my socks off, I had a shit eatin' grin the whole time I was watching because he just sounds so wicked when he opens up on his harp and lets loose with the blues... Rock on Norton, you're truly one of a kind brother!!
