DNS-Domain Name Services provides the translation or resolution of "friendly names" or fully-qualified domain names into IP addresses. This brief tutorial explores the hierarchical structure of domain name servers of which there are 13 globally such as .com server, .gov server and others. This tutorial discusses the DNS "resolver" and the steps in searching or querying other servers. In addition, this tutorial explains root level, top-level domain and second-level domain concepts using in DNS.

  • thank u very much ,,, u help me a lot to understand this process but i have one question if the DNS server that i am connecting to dose not have the information that I am looking for in this time does it act as client server and ask another DNS server or dose not ???
