@joejoemorgan Says who? Why? Details?

They were not to do this, they did it anyway.

Stop. These are not radio control gliders. Regardless of the experience of the pilots, the speed they are traveling makes the low flight path dangerous. There is a hospital very close to Tech, in the flight path actually.

100% agree CWO. I'm a retired Navy Air Traffic Controller and we both know why the FAR's and ATC rules are applied...Someone screwed up. 1000ft AGL and 1000ft msl are two different entities.

The fly over looked good to me...I don't get Navy brass...what did the pilots do wrong?
The Blue Angles fly about a hundred feet over the condo's at Jax Beach every two years for there annual performance...so what?

Wrong...A clear violation of FAR 91.97..Minimum Safe Altitude. Been in place for decades. If they were not aware of this Federal Aviation Regulation they had no business up there in the first place.
This rule is in place because Aviators that meant no harm had things go wrong with there wifferdills and low passes. Innocent people get dead. They were grounded for violating the reg. No one lost there "Wings", that takes a separate judicial action.

Typical of brass. The cost to replacing the pilots far exceeds the risk the pilots presented in their flyby. A local letter of reprimand would have suffice towards corrective behavior, setting an example to others, and ensured our Country retain skilled/trained pilots. Navy's good PR was lost in this heavy handed approach.

they both lost their wings as a result of this flyby... what a waste of years of hard work....
A slap on the wrist, ground them for a week, hand them both a cigar for a good show. These are F-18s fighter-attack pilots, not ash-n-trash haulers. Sure they busted a deck rule doing a perfectly safe low pass. Know what you call a fighter pilot who is more concerned about rules and regs than pressing his ship to the edge of the envelope? Either a flag-draped hero or a POW. The Nave has gone PC and pussified. Permanent grounding of either is pure CYA horseshit, Admiral.

Lost their wings for that? They can land on carriers in practically any weather imaginable but there's hell to pay if they come within 600 feet of the ground.
They fly that low all the time and at much higher speeds during combat ops. And regardless what height they are at, if something went wrong the plane would still land on people somewhere.
