A vegetation fire broke out in the late morning Sunday, October 4, 2009 in the hills near Rancho Rd and the 101 Freeway, in the city of Thousand Oaks. About 60 acres burned, mostly hillside brush, some power lines were threatened. Immediate residents and horses were temporarily evacuated. No structures were damaged and there were no injuries at time of posting. Winds were moderate, and shifting during the day. The Ventura County Fire Department got a great start on the fire, and full containment was expected by Sunday evening.
