This is footage from the first ever Pro Tour that took place in New York back in 1996. The footage was made possible as a download over on Wizards at no charge under fair usage.

I decided to post it for everyone to view for those who are curious to what the First Pro Tour was like back in 1996.

Enjoy.

  • @reddyneddy It was crazy. But hey. Who could blame them as this was the first of many. It was great that they got rid of that rule after the first season, because it would had been a real horror if they kept it for all them other seasons.

  • @mercenarybdu Yeah, the 5 card thing was a fun idea to promote the other sets because 4ed was full of insane cards so you didn't need to use much else :P

I'm glad when I played magic back then I was charging my balduvian barbarians into folk of an-havva, none of this millstone malarkey!

  • @reddyneddy yip, this was the first PT alright. All the players had to have a minimum of 5 cards from each set in their decks in order to play. That included Homelands. This is also the longest PT to date before time limits were set in.

  • haha "it's an hour and a half into the match" thats why this format sucked balls :(
