My wife's 3/4-size nylon strung cheapo guitar makes its YouTube debut! And you get a fairly clear glimpse of my 3-year-old's current obsession momentarily at the end. Anyone recognise what it is?
SS = song sketch. I'm hoping to make a series of videos of songs that are "in embryo" in the hope that posting them online will create an external pressure to finish the job! Notice how optimistic I'm being with my 4-figure numbering system! (-:
(I do have a large backlog of embryonic songs somewhere in the depths of my subconscious but I don't think they'll stretch to 4 digits).
Got a little tune in my head this evening that became the "Hold Me Now" bit. Felt irritated that I'd forgotten the unusual melody that entered my head last night so I decided to make sure I didn't lose this one. Grabbed my guitar, sang from the top of my head and added a little more to the song. Grabbed the videocam and here's the result. Singing and playing quietly is a necessity while the children are sleeping. My pained expressions are a combination of me trying to recall the words I made up only minutes before and trying to hit the right chord.
***
Hold me now while my heart's on fire
Kiss me soon while I feel your desire
And I'll be there for you
I'll be there for you
Because I want you
To know
That I need you
To show
That you love me now and always will
Always will... (puzzled look on my face)
***
At this point I'm not quite sure where the song's going, but I imagine it being about insecurity and commitment.
Quite happy with the "I want you", "I need you" bits. The idea for these lines was fairly spontaneous but reminds me of a note I wrote my wife before we were even an item. I ended one side of the note with the words "I want you" but the sentence was not really an expression of desire but was resolved on the other side of the paper with something trivial. If my wife still has the note I will try to find out what it actually said.
Not so happy with the "I'll be there for you" lines - simply because those words are just too famously part of a well-known TV theme. I need to find a better substitute.
Does anyone else on YouTube write descriptions this long?!? (-:
I love this! Too short! 5 stars

Yep. Most of my short musical clips I record to help me remember song ideas. I plan to keep doing short clips in the hope that people can ignore the quality of the performance/recording and see the essence of what I'm doing. I figure I'll try and do longer and better versions of the more popular stuff in the long run.
Thanks for the comment. Been away on holiday. I'll get back to you about you other comments when I've got a bit more time...
