He was able to live a life we could only dream of.
How many times in my life I've walked and driven along the Monterey bay coast and thought him so far away. How we need him now to make global warming understandable to people, to sho the earth care and empathize with the nature he spoke of and sang to.

I was in a front row seat at the Durngate Theatre in Northampton U.K. when John sang this song live. It truly stands in my memory as one of the most beautiful times of my life.

John died 4 months before my birth. My dad met him several times.

There is something amazing about spirit-connected people. They seem to come into our world, drop beautiful gifts and wisdom and then move on. I remember that day when we recorded this. An inspiring place, as is the Maroon Bells, all of Alaska, the fjords of Norway and so many other natural places.

@deborah00934 The song is "The Wings That Fly Us Home". It was released on JD's Spirit Album in '76. It was written by his good friend Joe Henry (who wrote some of JD's other songs as well) and JD would write the music for Joe's lyrics. A great combination!! A true gem of a song that will endure for a long time.

Could someone tell me the name of the song that JD is singing in this video!! Thanks

Twelve years ago the world lost a truly amazing man. John Denver's ability of expression, on many levels, brought people together and gave them a greater understanding for each other. Yet, he was determined to do more than just bring people together. He wanted to help change the world and make it a better place. Among many things, he strived to end hunger, endeavored to be a voice for nature, and worked to protect the natural beauty of the world.
-
Yet, despite his untimely death, his work continues on throughout the world by all of us who still hear his voice and share his vision. He may be gone in the physical sense, but many people (myself included) know that his spirit is still here and guiding us. John still lives on in his songs and more importantly, in our hearts and he will never be forgotten. Rest in peace!

Thanks John for living in my lifetime.
