fruti - If you think Clinton/Gore should have found them, then what about Bush? You are making an assertion without evidence. Bush IGNORED specific warnings provided by Tenet and made NO effort to investigate. The C/G White house, when given evidence on threats, responded. It's all in the record, if you care to investigate. Tenet provided the 911 terrorist info immediately when he got it, and sadly for this country, Bush was the president and he sat on it until AFTER 911. Those are the facts.

fruti- Al Gore would not have need to respond to the 911 attacks. You know why? Because he would have STOPPED them from happening in the first place. Bush planned the Iraq war from day 1, and ignored CIA warnings and REDUCED the importance of the CSG (Counterterrorism Security Group) in the White House. Gore would never have done that. Gore would have caught al Qaeda long before 911. This is not just talk - they were on top of things at the Millenium and stopped a planned attack against LAX.

worstjobever - do your research. The situation in 1992 was NOT the same as that in 2003. Gore's comments were valid in 1992 with regard to not taking out Iraq's elite units when there was a rebellion after the gulf war of 1990-91. Saddam crushed the rebellion and stayed in power. Iraq was not a threat to us in 2003, because under Clinton, we had bombed their Intelligenc HQ for trying to kill Bush Sr. in 1993. Iraq did not attempt another terrorist attack against us. Gore backed up his words.

fruti: Clinton/Gore implemented every recommendation by the terrorism czar, including full-scale efforts to find sleeper cells in the USA (which they did at the Millenium and stopped a planned attack on LAX). What Bush did was REVERSE the course on terrorism. E.g. he did NOT hold a high-level meeting recommended by the terrorism czar until Sept 4th, 2001 -even though he was asked in Jan 2001. No focus on terrorism - its why we had 911. We had a bozo in the white house intent on attacking Iraq.
