我第一次聽的時候差不多是40年前，還是初中生。一位講不純正廣­東話的音樂女老師，

教我們唱這歌，為的是在那時香港節一些節目表演。年幼時感受不深­，時至今日已體會多了。感人的歌聲，唱出無限的情懷！謝謝您！

Oh and YIN XIUMEI ROCKS>...... I have heard her other recording and I must say that she is comparable to the american and european sopranos. Maybe even better thatn many of them..... Listening to this song and listening to her makes me proud of being chinese..... No disrespect to QIN ZHI. He also has a very nice voice....

Forgive my ignorance but, can somebody please tell me the story behind 918 in this song? I have read and understand the lyics of this song but I guess without really knowing the story behind 918, I will never understand the deep meaning of this very wonderful and heartwarming song.
