I have a john deere 170 model lawn tractor that has been sitting for at least 5 years the motor turns over but only runs when I add gas to the carb and the carb is clean is there anything else I need to check?

@bitswiz101 check to see if the carb is getting fuel from the tank, it also has to be more than just a little trickle of fuel so if your not getting fuel or your not getting very much the fuel filter is probably plugged, and if it isnt that its it its also possible that if yours has a fuel pump, yours might be plugged or the vacume line going to it is shot or the diaphragm in the pump is hard and is shot, hope this helps let me know if you need anymore help
