Something strange comes over me and only the Splatterhouse's difficulty can defeat it. You can view this video and others in HD at http://www.vimeo.com/tyson716

  • I know they changed it on the Turbo for the AMERICAN release. But in the PC Engine (The Japansese counterpart) left everything in tact except for toning the gore down, and the voices are gone.

But the masks name in the series is and always been the HELL MASK, which is a ancient Mayan artifact that Dr.West was studying before he disappeared.

I don't care if it looks like a Hockey, doesn't make it so. The manuals even the arcade sheet state it's the Hell Mask otherwise called the Terror Mask.

  • Yes of course they gave the mask a name, Namco had a story for the game obviously, most all games do. Also many games differ from region to region for fear of legal action for infringement. Look at Street Fighter 2 and the name switching of the boss characters so Mike Tyson wouldn't sue Capcom for a boxer named Mike Bison. But if you look at any of the art for the original arcade version of Splatterhouse, you'll clearly see they used a hockey mask for the "Hell Mask" (that's pretty undeniable).

  • It's not a fucking Hockey Mask. It's the HELL mask but more commonly known as the terror mask. It's a acient Mayan artifact that Dr.West was studying at the time of his disappearance.

Also the story isn't unrealistic because The mask set up everything from the beginning, which is why you fight it in part 3 (even though your character is still wearing the mask. Namco made a big mistake there)

  • Not so, Namco changed it from a hockey mask to the skull version to avoid legal issues with Paramount/New Line for infringement on their character, Jason. In Splatterhouse 1 for arcade it is a hockey mask. They changed the color of it to red on the Turbographix-16 to avoid said legal issues. And the unrealistic storyline part was just satirical to lead into the mask floating onto my face.

  • Good speaking man.

Really very entertaining and funny. :)

B.t.w.: Have you played it on your arcade machine? The screen really looks very good like a good old low resolution monitor from back in the day's which can give this authentic look.

  • You have the actual Arcade machine?????

  • good review happy halloween!!!!!!!

  • geez man...I didn't get it at first..I shouldn't be so quick to be an asshole. I do appreciate the fact that you took the time to explain that. Cheers man

  • Sadly I guess people STILL don't understand that the only reason for saying that stuff was to SET UP the mask taking over my body. I needed something negative to say about it so that it would chime in. That was the only reason for saying that. I thought it was painfully obvious, but some people are going to slip through the cracks I guess.

  • Haha! At 1:29, the voice sounds just like Freddy Kruger. XD

  • Omg I used to watch your videos longggg ago when you first started you stoped after festers quest for a bit.... But I forgot to check if you made new ones... either way Yay theres new ones

  • he doesnt believe the plot?its a 16bit videogame, its not a movie it doesnt need a plot. just plug the cartridge in and play

  • I think the hockey mask was suppost to give the wielder power, but also curse them...I'm not really sure, I'm actually new to the whole Splatterhouse games.

God damn you, where on earth did you find a machine, or copy of the unaltered first game?
