Inspirational and hearfelt British singer Alison David bares her heart and soul in this intimate student film portrait. Alison started out busking then made a name for herself on the UK dance/soundsystem scene in the late 1990s, as well as the outdoor alternative festival circuit, such as Big Chill, Bestival and One World. Alison has featured in bands Red Snapper and The Egg as well as alongside DJs Adam Freeland and Ashley Beedle. She has performed live in the studio for BBC Southern Counties Radio and has also featured in the British film Trauma (2004) alongside Colin Firth. Although based in Brighton (on the south coast of England), throughout much of 2008 Alison has been in India, singing in hotels in Delhi and Bombay... (who knows...maybe she'll be talent spotted for Bollywoood... Shilpa Shetty watch out!!). Known for her loved-up, community-spirited, sing-a-long shows, Alison has refused to compromise or be moulded by the music industry. A bit more left field than the likes of Amy Winehoue or Joss Stone, Alison has turned her back on the lure of fame and fortune in favour of staying true to herself and keeping her integrity. In a time of so much talentless celebrity drivel, the true gems so often stay off the mainstream radar.

As Dreamers Do was made while on a two month full time documentary filmmaking course at London Metropolitan Film School in November 06 and updated in 2007. Thanks to all the staff at London Met for their support in my first attempt at documentary.
