Listen to the wonderful sound of DC-3 N44V built originally in 1942 starting its Two Pratt & Whitney radials, at the Carolinas Aviation Musuem.
The Right Engine had been rebuilt, hence the ground run and the fun starting it :0)
Some background noise from the jets taking off on the runway nearby (Charlotte).

  • I too would pay whatever to fly in one of these classic air craft. I think if they would designate a route on one of these planes it would make a lot of money. Who could refuse to fly in such a magnificent air craft.

  • Real aircraft have round engines...

  • @francdaavloox i don't know, frankly, but big commercial jets have... jet engines. and those engines are as round as possible. so what the fuck do you mean, chap???

  • amazing!!!!!!!!

  • @5963712 We had the Flagship Detriot Dc-3 come to our fly in. My dad was in charge of the event so I got to ride up in the cockpit for the flight it was awsome. Even better was that they let me fly for about 30 min in the left seat. I was 17 at the time and had legal Dc-3 time in my log. I gotta say these planes are heavy as hell on the controls. Dc-3s have always been my favorite plane.I will own one one day! I'm working my ass of in college now so that dream will come true someday!

  • @motokid032

Um... maybe read the description for the answer?

  • @motokid032 You don't "start" one of these big radials. You wake them up!

  • @5963712 Exactly, you see in Yellowknife, Northwestern Territories (CANADA), there is an airways called "Buffalo Airways" it has all the old FUN planes such as: DC 3, C-46 Commando, Lockheed Electra ect. AWESOME TOYS

  • Why do radials take so long to fire up? They seem to have to crank a million times.

  • Love the shine on the fuselage!

  • favorite airplane right there. cant wait to one day work on that aircraft

  • @purplezinger I was 12 when I first got laid!
