  • Hi I would like to see your guy do well, but still no padwork? Also just a suggestion but if anerobic threshold is your goal on the himm trainining it might be worth using the hill as a pure hill sprint maybe 50 meters then performing the techniques/padwork ets while in Anerobic range from the sprinting. The sprinting will get to that range quicker.

  • @simonjr Peace guy, Don't mistake what you've seen on these clips for what he's actually doing. Most of it is not filmed because I don't have a camera man, but check out the next clip, I' m sure you'll see The progress he's made and his potential.

  • @Maoshan Cool good to hear I am looking forward to seeing him in there confident and comfortable in dealing with solid strikes. I hope MUSU puts all the videos up.

  • @simonjr Don't worry, this clip will be up.

  • Those are great drills! Im doing the second mother palm strike with the seven star stepping (not sure what its called in BaGua) right now. Question, the lower basin stepping your student is doing down the hill, is that also the stepping used to walk the circle in the lower basin? I noticed very few BaGua teachers teach it that way, it's rare. I still do it the standard way, but I heard this way is better on the knees. If you have time, can you explain more about proper lower basin stepping? One

  • @HiddenPalm As far as the Lower Basin is concerned, What he was doing was close but no cigar. He hasn't developed his legs enough to do it properly yet, but from an external, get strong point of view it's ok. It takes up to 2yrs for the legs to prepare for that and I'm talking everyday 1-2hrs at a minimum. one of the things that has to be focused on is that the thighs are kept parallel to the ground, No Raising or falling between steps. It's basically the same as the middle basin,Just Harder.

  • @runetang Yes, generally. In perfect world you start off with just your body weight , after some time in you add the heavy shoes, rings, vest, etc... After the 28th, it's back to the beginning. This Training method is getting results, but it's not proper. True results take time.

  • @9:30 into the clip I see those low tops, those look great for footwork :-D I noticed he had alot more speed with those feet, looking real good. Perhaps training strength and root in heavy shoes as a beginner, then switching to ultra light shoes once one understands the fundamentals of the footwork of the forms and palm changes to optimize speed and maneuverability? I'm no Sifu, however you probably know much more about this than me. Shoot me a tip?

  • How's the lightweight shoes i recommended feeling like? Yes, there's a bit less ankle support, but considerably less weight and bulk, especially if you're big footed like myself (12-13). I see some training with no shoes, that would be better than ankle high thick padded basket ball shoes. I fought once in the street with the wrong shoes on, despite kicking the crap out of said person, I could feel the shoe "vibrate" from the kick, momentarily throwing off momentum. Was also slower/less accurate
