yes, it's heavy like a Les Paul. It has a block of wood in the center of the body.

Nope, sorry, no channel here. The plastic one was actually transmitting some hum when I touched it so I got a 1/4 or so thick slab of ebony and just traced the old one and used a coping saw to cut it. Finished it with sand paper and then wet-sanded with lemon oil. An awesome mod and well worth it considering how beautiful these guitars are to start with.
