@robertgift yes. the slug gets its power from the mother loco. to take the strain off and to prevent overheating the traction motors.

Just use an existing locomotive frame rather than make a slug shorter?

@robertgift Most slugs were GP9's or RS-3's, RS-10's and RS-18's at one time. The slugs were no greater than a GP9. Even BNSF used a SD9 for a slug. SD9 is same HP as a GP9.

a bcr crew hit a logging truck - she was rebuilt and then scrapped less then a year later
