However unlike Godspell, Aida is a race specific show and it's fine that schools do it, but the effect is not quite the same you know? When The Gods Love Nubia is sung an it isn't sung by someone who looks nubian, the point is lost. Like Once on This Island in it's entirety done by an all white cast. There are certain shows where there don't even allow them to be done if there are not black actors/actresses to fill the roles.

i'm playing aida and i actually think that "past is another land" is the hardest. it's at this horrible spot right where my head and chest voice meet.

Yeah, exactly. When my school did Godspell, we had an all-white cast. It wasn't a racist thing; it was more like "there are two black kids in the entire school and neither of them are in chorus." Consider the demographic.
