There is more Oil/Gas under the Caspian sea than there is under the whole Arabian peninsula. In '85, Rajiv Gandhi started a program to make India the largest computer literate nation. There is now a massive burgeoning professional middle-class in India based on the IT economy. These mid classes demand material consumer goods incl cars the ultimate mobile status symbol. Cars need petrol and a deal was made that US will supply oil to India based from the Caspian sea, but need a pipeline to India

Oil, Gas, Blood, it matters not. There is no proof that OBL was responsible for 911. The FBI/CIA are not after him for that. In July '01 an offer was made for the TAPI pipeline (Turmenstan, Afghanistan, Pakistan, India) to the Taliban by UnoCal - fronted by Bechtel of who a consultant was a one Hamid Karzai. The offer from the state dept was that "we will shower you with gold or shower you with bombs." The Taliban chose the Argentinian offer and 3 weeks later 911 happened. Go figure

My take on the the oil pipeline is that someone in Pakistan wants it as badly as the oil companies do (probably for revenues). The reason I believe this is because our state department asked for the replacement of Gen. Mahmoud Ahmad after the reports came out about him funneling money to Al Qaida prior to 9/11. Whatever the specifics were, the results sent us into Afghanistan. What Americans never hear about is the civil war in Pakistan over that same pipeline. Check my site for a vid on this.
Thanks for interviewing Eric on the 'forgotten' war, and what it's really about. *****
