Occupy San Jose: Police occupying our site

At around 12:15 am, a large group of police came to break up camp. We were able to safely move all of our people and belonging off the plaza in time. Four police cars stayed until 3 am.

Here's the thing....QUIT BEING LIL BIYATCHES!!!! If you're told to leave, then do it! Stop hassling the officers. You "demonstrators" need to just learn how to follow simple instructions.

@OccupySJ - i understand that you might not agree with some of the laws. But that doesn't mean you are excluded from the consequences if you decide to violate them.

@shmoopify We at Occupy San Jose believe that our First Amendment rights outweigh a city ordinance. City Hall is a $600 million, publicly funded space. All citations/arrests have been because of "camping," though we are exercising our right to assemble and not camping. Furthermore, the municipal code is being selectively enforced to those involved in OSJ. Those arrested have not been read their Miranda rights. If you would like to know more, please email us.

SJ cops are dickheads. It seems like they never told you which law prohibits being on the plaza between 11 pm and 5 am. I also loved the part at the end about occupying the other side of the street.

@OccupySJ Also, you can believe whatever right outweighs whatever law you want, i certainly cant tell you what to live by. But, don't whine and complain to/about the police when they arrest you and it goes against what you "believe". Check out this guy's editorial. I know you won't because it goes against what you believe in, but give it a shot. Look up "A Day In The Life Of An Occupy Wall St. Participant" by mattwillwork

@OccupySJ - if you are establishing residency (ie...tents and clothing and staying the night) then you are camping. Furthermore, Miranda rights DO NOT have to be read to anybody simply because you are being arrested. The police only need to read them to a person (arrested person) if they are going to ask them questions. In other words, an officer can arrest a person, take them to jail, book them and leave without ever even have said a word to them.
