@hzj79 Certainly the Poles shook hands with the Americans on the 19th/Aug, but the "gap" was not closed for another two days. For what it is worth the Poles are not the only ones to not get the credit due from their allies. Also, for what it is worth, Poland got screwed by the Brits and Americans at the end of the war, but as "solidarity" showed us, the Poles are not a people to take being oppressed lightly.

@hzj79 That's a poor argument. How do you rationalize it? Even in wiki: " By evening of 21 August, tanks of the Canadian 4th Armoured Division had linked with Polish forces at Coudehard, while the Canadian 3rd and 4th Infantry Divisions had secured St. Lambert and the northern passage to Chambois. The Falaise pocket had been sealed"
Not all who read these are ignorant of history so make sure your version of history is accurate.

I'd be drunk too. What else to do?

This is so abunch of one sided bullshit... Germans out maned out guned and surrounded fought hard to help get the men of the 7th army out of harms way and did for the most part . Not for hitler or the nazi party but for them and their familys...

Poland achieved the best with what she had. A brave, rescourceful & proud people! Krauts were ruthless hyenas- only flexing muscle when it was known the filthy cowards couldn't be bought to account for the satanic barbarism perpetrated!! The author has seen (although God only knows how such atrocities affected the people witnesses!) the cruelty inflicted on the civilian population. Poles be proud, you as a people proved courage is bred !!
Falaise pocket was closed by famous Polish 1st Armored Division and not by canadian armor.
