James Burton, playing the Fender Telecaster behind Rick, always had the sweetest gutiar riffs ~ never overdone, smooth with just the right touch to back Ricky's terrific voice and presence. Burton is recognized as one of the best of his era ~ he was the headline guest at Eric Clapton's "Crossroads" gutiar festival in Chicago last summer. Burton played behind not only Ricky Nelson but, later, Elvis Presley as well. I am a baby-boomer and watched Ricky & his family, for years, on television.

Wow -- was he ever good looking! I had almost forgotten his unforgettable looks. I was so jealous when he got married even though I was far too young to marry. I also loved Elvis; the Beatles -- blah! not interested.

@chrysm6 ~ Nice to hear from you. My all-time favorite Ricky Nelson recording, and James Burton gutiar riff, are of the same song; "It's Up To You." I remember when Ricky was killed, almost 27 years ago to the day, I made a 4" tall sign, that covered the length of my car's rear window. It simply said, "We'll miss you Ricky, always.............." What a joy to have grown up with the Nelson Family.

How right you are, Ron. Gratefully, James Burton has also been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as the iconic Guitarist that he is, and deservedly so. James and Ricky's music talent and early partnership virtually evolved and matured on camera right before our very eyes. Youtube is quite a treasure trove, indeed. In fact, there exists other footage, wherein these two amazing talents, when mere youngsters, played guitar together weaving the musical magic they are so well known for.
