Same-direction Reel combinations

Lesson Type: Beginners

Prerequisites: High and low same direction reels.

In this video, I'll explain a little further some of the possible combinations that can be performed from high and low same-direction reels.

If you have any difficulty with these combinations, please post a video response and I'll help you out.

Enjoy,

  • ...im not totally sure what im asking, and what im getting at, but, if you have an idea, or some advice, please dispense at will. im sure it would help to see a video of what im having trouble with, so i'll try to get one up

  • Yeah, a video always helps, but I think I understand what you're saying. All I can really say is that even if the movements are clunky, at least you're doing them, which is the hardest part. Fluidity and smoothness come with time and practice, although this comment is quite old, so I'm sure you've got it by now. If not, just keep practicing and try not to pause at the 180 mark and you'll get it eventually.

  • hey there nathaniel. how are you. so, im finding the whole turning move hard/ confusing. i can go from a three beat weave forwards to three beat weave backwards. i can go from outwards reels turning 180 to inwards reels. but, i cant turn fluidly like you demostrate. my turns are blocky if you get my drift. they have to be done in moves of 180....

  • I have come to realize the same unfortunately before seeing this video :/

Poi sint like juggling and about the different patterns....this is more like "dancing" in freedom with spins and stops and whatever

  • Thank you, yeah. It's far better to learn the basics that allow for a greater degree of movement, than more technical moves but have no idea how to integrate them smoothly into a combination, it doesn't look very good. Getting the "basics" like these can be hard and take a while, but they will make learning moves far easier in the future, and will enable you to enjoy your own spinning and move more freely than you would if you learn technical moves before your time.
