The modular designed MK-system is integrated in the exhaust piping of the vehicle, most of the times in place of the original muffler. The filter medium is made of Silicium Carbid (SiC), a high-tech ceramic. The filter is able to load the harmful diesel particles from approximately 8 working hours. Then the maximum allowed backpressure is reached and the filter needs to be regenerated. For this purpose, the diesel burner is ignited while the engine is shut-down. Depending on the filter size, the regeneration is completely over from 5 to 35 minutes. About 3,4 oz to 10 oz of diesel fuel are necessary for each regeneration. The entire process is supervised by the HUSS Control electronic device. www.hussgroup.com

  • Too good on paper but in reality that EPA crap is killing the diesel industry and also it increase the cost of operation of diesel truck owners.

  • @ajtoy454

yes ofcourse, but that violates EU emission regulations. vehicle built before 2003 dont have these things.

  • this is realy a example of rushpolicy with very bad results. The consumer is paying the bill again! And will have a heartattack from the stress due malfunctioning of the system.

  • I know for a fact that the Ford 6.4's and Cummins 6.7's get about half the MPG of the previous diesels offered in them. the DPF burns fuel in the exhaust to raise exhaust temps to about 1100 deg. that no only burns extra fuel but also greatly shortens the life of the engine. The DPF reduces engine life, that means people will be buying new truck much more often and scraping the old ones early, What a waste of resourses, energy, money, and the environment. we also burn more fuel too

  • less pm when burning more fuel????

  • can this unit be bypassed ? in any way !!

  • Terrific diagram! If anybody is interested in watching more on DPF's, you can watch "Diesel Particulate Filters: background" on the bankspowerinsider page.

  • Very interesting!
