if the saddest people he knows are rich then tell him to give his money to the poor the money was spent on wars and tax breaks..he is part of the congress who took a vacation and a pay raise so he is condemning himself..hypocrisy

that was aweful! $ 3m for research goes to who? the american scientists and american lab instrument manufacturers who made it possible, and who will spend it, and put the money back into the system. He is protecting the most insanely rich in america, and robbing the middleclass. the last 30 years, the richest 1 % of americans recieved 80 % of the national income increase, and rule over 24 % of the national income.

$3m is a drop in the bucket for the national budget. To spend this money mapping DNA is money well spent. Why not *increase* the amount of money spent on studying and understanding our world - and slash the amount of money wasted on unneccessary offensive military operations against countries which are no threat to us.

McCains are monumundo rich, assets of $100 million, wifey's 2006 income = $4.7 mil, ($6 mil in 2007.) By his own definition they're surely rich. Cindy McC gave less than 1% to charity 2006 (per tax records.) while supposedly McCain "gave" 19% of his income to charity....BUT it went to their OWN foundation, FROM which 2/3 (%500K) went to the private schools their kids attended. "I want to see everyone rich."
The plan for making a minimum wage family "rich" in today's economy, please?
