Bex and Emy's Mario and Luigi themed pole dance/ fitness routine for the doubles category of the final of the UK Amateur Pole Performer competition, held in St Albans on 24th September 2011.

Please note that this routine was in NO WAY whatsoever intended to be a sexy pole dance so if you came here looking for that, hard luck. This was for a performance based competition and therefore our priorities were staying in character, having fun, and entertaining the audience, as opposed to being super graceful (pretty sure Mario and Luigi are not graceful!). Please also bear in mind that neither of us are professional dancers in any way, this is an Amateur competition. Pole fitness is a very hard sport/ hobby/ dance form and I would urge you to try it yourself before criticizing!

  • Absolutely awesome! Must have been embarassing to lumber around like the Mario Bros. but it was seriously entertaining and a very fun video to watch great job :)

  • @Connarhea Haha we don't do 'serious'... didnt mind embarrassing ourselves at all - it was such a laugh and all in the name of entertainment!

  • This lacked grace.

  • @theblahs Last time I checked, Mario and Luigi were not exactly graceful.

  • @EmyDawn but probably a pole routine should be. You guys were getting on the pole, pulling shapes, getting off the pole. What the hell? The music was partly to blame maybe... and maybe you guys got too stuck in representing the characters over the sport.

Either way it could have at least been fun to watch, but it was just choppy and weird. I like a fluid routine, no fault of yours.

  • @theblahs No, a pole routine is what you make it. It can be graceful... it doesnt have to be. Our priority was staying in character, as this competition was based more on 'performance' as opposed to solely technique. With two people, you cant both physically stay on the pole ALL the time, you need to come off to transition into other things. The music was intentionally broken up, so it was not 4 solid minutes of one song which would have been tedious for the audience.

  • Wow, girls! Great job! Forget all these lame 12 year old boys who are complaining that it's not "sexy stripper time". Let's see one of them try ANY of those pole moves without breaking their necks. You two are fab!
