To expect a defined style from a kid this age is ridiculous. Get off his back and sit back and enjoy a future master without feeling the need to run your yap. I am sure that Tommy sounded a lot like Chet at this age, and Chet himself said that he would have never left Merle's shadow if he hadn't had his access to Merle limited by going into the Army. Give him space and time, he will be fine.
