The light kit doesn't fit with the GGC

If you put a ceiling fan in the basement, It has to be very high so someone does not ruin the blades

I used very short screws, but I am in the process of putting in mounting blocks instead.

How did you manage to mount those ceiling fans directly to the ceiling like that? Did you have any problems with the floor above?

How exactly do mounting blocks work?

Just screwed some scrap pieces of wood to the ceiling with many, many shorter screws (so they didn't poke through the floor of my bedroom, which some do anyways :-p ) and I mount the fans to those instead. If they get too full of holes, I switch the block, which wouldn't be possible with the floor boards. Also, it brings the fans down a bit, so I don't need odd downrod lengths to keep the blades from hitting the joists and my head. XD

Can't wait to see it. By the way, I've wanted to ask this; what made you decide to but a lighting fixture on the GGC?

I kind of have to put a light on it, or it's really dark in that location. I like to go with only fan lights when I'm in there. It's very aesthetically pleasing. =)

Good idea. Heavy fans like Hunters could fall if not mounted properly.

Yes, the Original installed here was installed on the only mounting block I had installed at the time, so it was installed properly otherwise I might have had a problem. ;-) Every fan installed down there will now be Casablanca, I just need one more to fill the last space, and it's coming very soon!
