  • Wendy got very butch. She and Susannah were identical at one point but right now they hardly look that much alike

  • @campfive That may all be. But it still doesen't cost me anything to pure & simply recognize that these people (namely Wendy Melvoin Voin and Lisa Coleman Oleman) are more than talented musicians who deserve recognition. Wendy's brother, Jonathan Melvoin (Voin) played with the Smashing Pumpkins. But wait! He played with Prince. Uh-oh... I guess we'll just have to accept that Prince was behind that too.

  • The song Satisfaction, was lifted from the long version of "get it up" written by Prince for his group called the "Time"... probably because the Times, Jesse Johnson produced it along with other tracks off "Fruit", the first two albums were by all critics said to be the "Minneapolis Sound", that was created by Prince. The revolution, consisting of Doc Fink, Brown Mark, Bobby Z, Wendy M and Lisa C., still perform together periodically, and play music created by Prince. Why not W&L's music?

  • I'm not sure I do. And here's why:

I adressed you because it shouldn't take that much for people to take a series of good contributions in high regard, without attempting to dimminish the contributers in comparison to the same artist who thought they were good enough to share a stage (and several albums) with him.

But those were Prince's albums. For Wendy & Lisa, try:

WENDY & LISA / FRUIT AT THE BOTTOM / EROICA / GIRL BROS. / WHITE FLAGS FROM WINTER CHIMNEES

    That is Wendy & Lisa.

  • @LunaSeaSane By the way..., I've got live audio recordings of Prince around 1986" live rehearsal stuff were you can hear Prince directing every lick, note, and vocal speaking directly to Wendy M., not so much with Lisa C. she was hired much earlier and all ready new her place! if you want to check some out let me now. Hard evidence.

  • @LunaSeaSane So I guess you think W&L had somethig to do with also creating The Time, Sheila E, The Family, Andre Cymone"s Dance Electric, Mazerati, Vanity 6, Apelonia 6, all the Madhouse albums just to name a few,.... listen lady Prince was allready huge among his people he was aiming to crossover into the white world so in his band he got rid of a better guitar player than wendy, "Dez Dickerson" and hired a little white girl named," wendy, gave her, her mystic and fame then sent her on her way

  • And peace love and hapiness to you, as well.

I am sure all these people moved on with their lives.

It is most unfair to disregard their contribution as if they -ever!- were easily replaceable elements.

  • You doubt it because that's how Prince wanted to be marketed as: a leader.

Solid musicians by your side make every bit of difference. Especially onstage.

These "chicks" played with everybody; 5 albums under their belt, countless Film and TV Scores and they keep getting better. Playing together since kids. Their parents were musicians.

Prince fired them. And then, went on writing songs on how "you left me, when you knew I loved you..." making it up to sound as if people had dissed him. Uncool.

  • @LunaSeaSane You said they played on Purple Rain, Around T W I A day and Parade but you only gave them credit for one song on one album where they had to have credit for their "is the water warm enough, yes lisa, rant" in the beginning of the song, but did they write any music? I doubt it..... I certainly give you credit for doing your homework though. Peace , Love and Happiness Luna

  • Since I have all three albums... yes I can: PURPLE RAIN - CD booklet "All words and music by Prince except 'Computer Blue' written by John L. Nelson, Lisa, Wendy and Prince" AROUNDTHE WORLD IN A DAY - CD booklet "Around the World in a Day" (David Coleman, John L. Nelson & Prince) "The Ladder" (John L. Nelson & Prince) PARADE - CD booklet Orchestra composed and arranged by Clare Fischer Wendy's brother played drums on 'Do U Lie?' 'Kiss' arranged by David Z And many others played on the album.
