It is a common thought in America that the President is the most powerful person in the world. The reasoning behind this is because the President is in charge of our Military, and thus can pretty much do whatever He or She wants. Congress can counter the President, but not before He or She does some massive damage.

All the same, I personally consider the President to be little more than a "puppet king." Still, it is quite a bit of power for one person to possess.

Plus, despite how unpopular American Government is with the rest of the world, it is undeniable that the USA has a great deal of influence. With a Mascot like the President, it can be argued that He or She is in fact the most powerful person on the planet.

Still, the statement I made is perhaps a bit inaccurate. I make no apologies for it, however, because He or She still holds quite a bit of power. Right now, Mr. Obama is scheduled to be that Powerhouse called the President.

I live in Canada, but I think that Obama becoming the next president of the United States is really good. Not just because he is the first African American president, but because I feel like change is key to the US and Canadian economy right now. Although change takes time, I think Obama will help North America in great ways. Although it is possible that anyone can help the economy. I just have a feeling this man will do good in 2009.
