I remember growing up like this - kinda poor - and making do - but I do look back and relish living in a household with parents, grandparents and great grandma ... and going to bed hearing great grandma who was actually my grandma's ex-Mother in law both arguing as I was drifting off. From a small tribe in the midwest - I remember this and growing up on the commods (Gov't rations for tribes) - as we called them - but fond memories - sad that generation is long gone - but this song captures it!

This is the only song that makes me cry every time I here it, I am from the old school, Where we appreciate anything we got, today kids are so screwed up the got to have the latest cloths even if there poor, and they expect someone else to get them by other peoples taxes or their parents or killing someone for them, but work for them, out of the question, well this is the generation that will be running our country soon, ever herd of going to Hell in a hand basket?

I hear this song and it brings tears to my eye's I was one of six children from the 50's and 60's and we had no money, but we wanted for nothing in the way of clothes thanks to my mother's sewing skills. Yes we were laughed at,at school 4 not wearing the most up to date clothes, but we were warm and we had shoes on our feet. so I just want to say thankyou to my mumma for all the nights she stayed up sewing just to put clothes on our backs.I swear this song was written just for her.I dedicate 2 her

This is such a beautiful song with much meaning to it. I think this will always be a classic song.

I love Dolly and Melissa :-)
Love the harmony
and the professional respect both artists have for one another.
Crossroads is a great concept, it allowed me to hear that Etheridge probably had some country influence early on.
