John Gabriel Pelias, 19, is graduating summa cum laude with a degree in Bachelor of Science in Math. His GWA of 1.016 is the heighest grade recorded at UP Diliman in the last 63 years. In Pelias' four years in college, he received mostly 1.0's — the highest possible grade a student can get in UP. He only missed the elusive "uno" three times, in three classes where he got a 1.25, the second highest possible grade.

John visits the Unang Hirit Tambayan and even faces a Wii Challenge!

  • @myomgomgomg Huh, CUTE????? Sa totoo lang he is quite ugly. Nakausli ang mga ngipin niya....

  • para sa lahat ng negative comments... INGGIT lang yan,, kaya wag ka na manood palamig kayo ng ulo.

  • ahh according to morielio01 sa tv 5 raw niya sinabi yung "i did not expected".

  • on the other hand, still an impressive accomplishment

  • yes indeed. he said "hindi mo expected" and not " i did not expected"; however, did he say "COPE UP"? Perhaps that explains why he got 1.25 at English :-). anyway, i still think he's smart but he shouldn't be given too much attention just because he's from up. I'm sure there are other individuals from other schools who are just as smart or even smarter.

  • di porke taga up matalino na. i've met quite a few up grads who failed miserably in cognitive and contextual analysis. there are an average number of bad eggs in every learning institution. to conclude that all up students are intelligent is nothing but a fallacy.

  • "I did not expected?????" Nakakahiya! High school or even grade school pa lang ay tinuturo na yung double past tense is wrong. Hindi deserving na summa yan!

  • Natawa dun ako sa:

Ano pag nagkasama kayo parang nagki-quiz bee kayo? Ikaw anong sqrt of 391?

    3:29

    ahahhahaha

  • napakunot yata yung noo niya nung sinabi na 'kauna-unahang summa cum laude siya ng BS math' :)). cute. super.
