Compressions are the most important part of Resus, if these are not adequate, there is no point in attempting, it is also common to hear Ribs cracking, pay close attention in class, as you never know when you may be faced with it, i recommend St John or Red Cross, St John firstly as they run the emergency Ambulance service to 90% of New Zealand. and are a widely recognised and respected organisation.

I would tell anyone taking training to pay attention closely.
I finished training in emergencies/CPR/First Aid response and a month later had someone go down in front of me in a store. It was a massive heart attack and I tended to him until EMS arrived. It can certainly happen to you.
I always rehearsed scenarios in my head "just in case" so that helped. Memorize everything and go over it whenever you get a chance. When it happens, your brain goes blank for a minute. Just remember A-B-C.
