Judge C. Ball is an author of the novel Soft As Cotton. She explains the important characters in her book. Each character experiences adversity throughout their years of living as an African American woman who was a slave. Even though these characters are fictional characters, the stories and hardships that they went through were nonfictional. It took the girls to represent their strengths and courage to get thru their hard times.

In this video Judge CBall explains the role of her 1st character Sarah and her aspiration to dream. This novel deals with African American women and the hardship they had to deal with during slavery. As Judge CBall explains how hard it was to write the novel because of the disturbing stories of slavery. Slaves were not to dream but this novel focuses beyond the expectations.
