The Laurisilva of Madeira is an outstanding relict of a previously widespread laurel forest type. It is the largest surviving area of laurel forest and is believed to be 90% primary forest. It contains a unique suite of plants and animals, including many endemic species such as the Madeiran long-toed pigeon.

  • I have been in Tenerife, La Palma and Madeira. I can say for sure that Madeira has the best and most vast Laurisilva of all mentioned places.

  • La Palma have best forest of laurisilva than Tenerife. So the best laurisilva forest is in Teno ( Tenerife)

  • Nem dá para aquecer com a Floresta Laurissilva existente na Madeira.

  • In Madeira forests are very luxuriant and have the biggest subtropical forest area of laurisilva in the world.

  • Beautiful! Hope to go there someday.
