This is me playing "Free Bird" on Hard Pro Guitar in Rock Band 3 for the PS3. Solo starts at 5:30.

I was extremely pissed off at the beginning and especially the end, because in order to capture the PS3 footage while playing, I have to disconnect my HDMI and play with component cables... which is both difficult to see as well as laggy. That's why I screw up a couple of early chords and completely choke the ending!

It sucks, because if I had hit that ending I would have placed a new personal record... sigh.

Anyhow, I'm pleased with my progress, not having played guitar before and only having the Mustang for 5 weeks :-) Now off to tackle those 4-note power chords (my biggest enemy thus far).

At the time of filming, I was ranked 37th on the PS3 leaderboard for pro guitar with a score of 7,682,471 (non-DLC).

  • ok it's me again....by the way those the game teach you actual notes of the guitar, because i did't see it

  • @OkamiRaion Those are the actual notes, they just use a numerical format to display them instead of letter form, due to the way the game scrolls vertically. It would be awesome if RB4 switched to a horizontal scrolling form with traditional notes though!

  • I've got a couple questions about this.

    1. Is that the only guitar available for this game?

    2. Do you practice everyday? (Nice job on this song, I subscribed)

    3. How do you do that video editing of you playing and the game playing.

    4. Is your guitar player a she-male with chest hair? LOL

  • @GrEEnXThirTEENs

    1. Well you can still use/buy the legacy 5-button controllers, but those aren't pro guitars obviously. For pro guitars, other than this one (the Mustang), the Squire Stratocaster comes on on March 1st. I'll be getting that when it comes out. It's an actual guitar that can actually be plugged straight into an amp and played.

Check it out at Fender -dot- com -slash- rockband3.

(Man, there's a 500 char limit on YouTube and can't post URLs? Stupid.)

    2. Yes, definitely. It's hard to estimate exactly how long each day, but probably around 3 sessions of 1-2 hours a day.

    3. I use Macbook + Video Capture Device (Dazzle) + Recording Software + iMovie.

    4. Yes!!! Thanks for noticing! When I play online people are like "WTF?!?!" Hahaha. 3:16 has a pretty good shot of him/her/it :)

  • nice.. you will be able to do expert soon .... :D

  • @MingSG77 Yes, maybe 1 year from now :)
