(2/2)...treating me differently. The only fundi in my entire family that knows is my great grandma, simply because she trapped me into admitting it. She thankfully hasn't treated me differently, but she did bust out the stock replies of "you're going to hell", and "it's just a phase." I think it's appaling that family members can be shunned and treated like garbage because they have a different point of view.

(1/2)I've been an Atheist for almost 6 years now and my transition happened rather simply. I went through the "I'm angry and doubtful of god" phase. I asked for a sign, clearly didn't get one, and that was it for me. But what got the ball rolling for that was listening to the things my Grandparent's Pastor would say. It's disgusting that being 20 years old, I'm terrified to come out to my fundie grandparents (specifically my grandma) because I can't handle the idea that they might start...
