This video starts on the ramp where I work in West Africa when I walked up to a parked 747. Pilots are pretty cool about showing their airplane to other pilots so I decided to go take a look. The second part of the video was taken when I was a passenger on AF from Paris to West Africa. I always wear my uniform shirt (no bars) and ID when I travel, and then I make sure to board last (this way the crew can see if they have business class seats open). When I arrive at the airplane I try and identify the purser or chief steward and ask them if they might have a different seat for me? On AF they take these requests to the captain. This captain said that he wanted to meet me, and when I arrived in the cockpit he said that he'd arranged a business class seat for me and asked if I'd like to first go stow my bag then return to the cockpit for the takeoff. I accepted and shot the following footage. Note; there's no control column in this Airbus, the first officer is flying with this right hand (which you can't see) using a sidestick.
