Maharaja is derived from the sanskrit words mahat, - "great" and rajan - "king". Much like its namesake, this imperial IPA is regal, intense and mighty. With hops and malts as his servants, he rules both with a heavy hand. The Maharaja flaunts his authority over a deranged amount of hops: tangy, vibrant and pungent along with an insane amount of malted barley - fashioning a dark amber hue and exquisite malt essence. This newest Avery Dictator completes the "Dictator Series" joining the likes of The Kaiser & The Czar. Be aware that The Maharaja is a limited release only available for the summer. Welcome to his kingdom!

Got this one in my store about a week ago and was totally blown away by it...especially since I hadn't heard any reviews of it prior and didn't have any preconceptions (besides that of Avery).

I don't recall it being as hoppy as you're saying here. The balance of the beer is downright remarkable. No idea how they pulled off 10%+ with such grace haha

@Drewb18c1 This one changes from batch to batch big time. Ive had batches that were really hoppy and some that were more toned down. Great beer for sure but since this review I have found better. Cheers!

I am getting a bottle (probably not from the newest batch) this upcoming Thursday with my buddy, a huge IIPA fan. I got him all stoked for this one too, and going off of your review, I can imagine this will be a mind-blowing experience.

Yeah man....I have to agree, I have quite an extensive palate for different styles of beer, but Maharaja is the holy grail for me. Some Imperials IPA's tend to turn me off, but this thing is just an absolute masterpiece. My favorite beer ever! Great review!
