This video covers the basic hardware and operation of the Eonon D5102 in a 2008 Mazda 3.

Part 2 will cover the use of some other features as well as device settings.

Part 3 will cover the use of iGo8 on the device.

I don't have the iPod cable hooked up.. The iPod screen is similar to the SD player screen. The until will NOT charge your iPod and I have heard it will not stop and resume your iPod when you turn the car off. There are some mods that can make it work this way and charge however that can be done.
The unit has been confirmed by other users to work with the iPhone4.

The audio player screen is diabolically bright and was confusing my cameras auto-iris control so you will notice the video getting darker and lighter. You may want to turn off the screen or use a different video mode such as GPS at night.

Sound quality is good for the stock speakers and setup. I am not an audiophile nor do I have any aftermarket amps or fancy speakers in my car but the unit sounds better than the stock Mazda unit.

All in all the unit has it's flaws mostly in software but for the price and OEM look and fit you just can't beat it. If you can live with the small flaws than it's a great buy and a snap to install even for someone who's never lifted a wrench. I would give it an 8 out of 10.

  • @funnyvantora You can't. The older units had a red background the newer ones have a blue one, there is no option. You can change the logo via the procedure on the d5102 wiki FAQ at d5102 dot wikispaces dotcom

  • Do u know how to change the background color to red? and how to add the mazda logo to the screen?

  • @murius007

    3) If a call comes in your GPS will be stuck in the background. You can not see the GPS screen while you are on a call or hear the GPS commands which kind of sucks. However once you hang up the GPS system pops right back up so just keep calls quick or don't answer them while navigating. Loading/switching time is about 2-3 seconds.

  • @murius007 1) Yes, that setting is part of the GPS software though so where it's located depends on the software package.

    2) The music is on a completely different SD card so it will have no effect on your music while loading. The SD card player is actually handled by another CPU as well so there will never be an interruption due to loading.

Posting another comment in a sec with the rest of the answers

  • Thanks for the In-depth review, just have a few questions and would appreciate any help.

    1) Can you turn off route announcements for GPS so that I can listen to music without interruption while just watching the GPS?

    2) Does Navigation sometimes cut out music off SD Card? Some other units have this issue when loading map info

    3) What happens when a phone call comes in when on GPS mode? Can you talk and navigate? How long is the 'Loading" time from GPS to phone?

    Greatly appreciate any help.
