Armed civilians is what protects the people from tyranny. If only the police and the military is allowed to carry weapons, who is going to protect you from them? That's why the 2nd Amendment exists. It's not about shooting burglars, it's about having a means to defend democracy, should the need arise. (As for criminals, they always find a way to get their hands on guns, regardless of whether they are legal or not.)

Marijuana should be a legalized controlled taxed substance. Perhaps if you guys in the states lighten up on it a little our government up here in canada will change there mind on setting a "law" against it. On the other note of guns, guns should just stop being produced period. No one needs to shoot anyone else. Too bad we all can't agree on said fact.

@c00lwatter if i can go my entire life with out killing somebody, regardless of how i die, i will consider my actions as a human being a success. even if it was an act of self defense, i couldn't shoot somebody. it's cool in video games but really fucked up IRL

@noxteryn hardly going to be an american government takes over the civilians. you see we don't let religion interfere with politics. Now if we let religion rule politics, get your fucking gun ready because they'll show up to shoot the homos and minorities on their doorstep

@itinkuno Not "anyone". The people, as a crowd. The riots in France and Greece are just minor examples of what an angry crowd is capable of. More weapons means more leverage against the government. It's about empowerment. (And no, I'm not a gun nut; I don't even own a gun. :P )

Not much unlike nuclear weapons. The fear of their use is often enough to prevent the use, but inevitably if they are to be used the result is not a healthy one. The fact that you would be terrified to shoot someone does not change the reality that there is at least 1 person out there that not only does not give a damn how you feel about it, but would probably just shoot you in the head for thinking it.
