Gay Top Gun bombardier-navigator Tracy Thorne who outed himself to the Navy to challenge the military ban on gays was one of the few opponents allowed to testify during Sen. Sam Nunn's 1993 dog and pony show. His discharge was rationalized by civilian courts, but not before he exposed willful homophobic bigotry and ignorance in the purest terms.

so if a country´d be in desperate need of new recruits in order to protect their country, a homosexual wouldnt be allowed to do that? Protect his/her country I mean. And what´s with the "keep yourself in closet"?
